Professor James Vickers guest of honour at IMD breakfast

Professor James Vickers, Director of UTAS Wicking Institute, international dementia expert and ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ old scholar will be the guest of honour at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ's annual International Men's Day breakfast in November. Year 5 to Year 10 boys, their fathers, grandfathers, uncles, caregivers and all staff and friends of the Dominic community are invited to join Professor Vickers and staff for breakfast. on Wednesday 15 November at 7.15am-8.30am to celebrate International Men’s Day.

Whilst the end of the academic year is fast approaching, the College is also forward planning for 2018 and 2019. Dates for Orientation sessions for students commencing 2018 in Kindergarten and Year 7 are listed below. A College Open Day is being held on Wednesday 25 October for parents wishing to view College facilities and programs for 2018 and 2019 enrolments.

Year 3-6 Athletics Carnival - a great day in tough weather!

On Thursday 19 October the 3-6 Athletics Carnival was held at Dominic in testing conditions of wind, rain and sunshine which can be described as a typical Tasmanian day. The normal running of the day was impossible due to early heavy falling of rain so events were postponed and then students marshalled from classrooms over the school PA system.

Fred Hollows Humanity Awards recipients from ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ

Last term, Year 6 students, Bianca Russell and Kitean Aitken were nominated by ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ for a Fred Hollows Humanity Award. The Fred Hollows Humanity Award celebrates Year 6 students who show compassion, integrity and kindness in their lives, just as Fred Hollows did.

Class of 2007 Reunion

The Year 10 Class of 2007 held their reunion Saturday 14 October, meeting at school, in the White House, for refreshments, photos and a tour of their old classrooms. A function then followed at a glamorous venue on the waterfront, where they could let their collective hair down. Many thanks to Mariel Butterworth and Emily Coatman for the organisation of the reunion.

Senior Drama students have begun working on what is now is an established tradition in the College, TALKING HEADS. This performance project allows our students to attack one of the most demanding, but rewarding forms of theatre, the monologue.
