The Prep – Year 6 curriculum develops a solid foundation in the Key Learning Areas of Religious Education, English, Maths, History, Science, Geography, The Arts, Health and Physical Education, Japanese, Technologies and Food Studies.
We believe that through combining core curricular subjects with broader specialist education opportunities, balance is created and our students are provided with the best opportunities to demonstrate and achieve learning outcomes.
The Prep to Year 6 curriculum is informed by and developed from the Early Years Framework and the Australian Curriculum.
English is fundamental to all areas of learning. It is essential that all students learn to speak, listen, read, view, write and spell at appropriate levels of proficiency aligned with the expectations of the Australian Curriculum. Additionally, being truly numerate requires students to develop their concepts and skills of mathematics, to think and act mathematically to enable them to apply mathematical principles to everyday life. To facilitate this development each day consists of a solid block of class time allotted to the core areas of English, Maths and Religious Education.
To complement our core curriculum we provide a broad education, encompassing a wide range of educational activities to provide breadth and depth of experience for all students.
Our Creative Arts program is aimed at developing Drama, Art and Music with our K-10 Specialist Teachers. In the Early Years, Art and Drama is classroom based with opportunities for excursions and incursions to supplement programs. Years 3-6 have two terms of Drama and Art and Music is taught in all Year levels throughout the year. Our Mamma Margaret Kitchen enables all Kindergarten to Year 6 students and parent volunteers to work together to develop essential life skills in cooking and nutrition.
At ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ, differentiated classroom environments emphasise inquiry-based, integrated learning as a key feature. By organising student's learning in a connected, integrated way, we create environments in which our students can explore in a context that is holistic in its meaning.
Prep – Year 6 classes include no composite classes.
