World Read Aloud Day was celebrated on Friday 8 February at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ to promote the importance of ‘reading out aloud’. Across the school students could read aloud in their classes in many different subject areas.

Launch into Learning 2019

ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ’s Pre-Kindergarten program Launch into Learning is becoming part of the curriculum in 2019. There will be four Launch into Learning classes, two on Thursdays and two on Fridays in term time this year. One of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ’s most experienced Kindergarten teachers, Mrs Linda Douglas, will be taking the Launch into Learning classes, as well as continuing to teach her Kindergarten class.

IWD breakfast 2019, with old scholar guest, Mercury journalist Jessica Sargent

Our annual International Women's Day breakfast is held on Tuesday 5 March 2019 and our special guest speaker is old scholar, Jessica Sargent (nee Howard, 2004). Years 5-10 girls, their mothers, carers, grandmothers and aunties are invited to celebrate the achievements of women, past, present and future. Old scholars are also warmly invited.

Kinder teachers and kinder animals

​Our three Kinder Classrooms have been named after three native animals for 2019. We have been authorised to use the actual palawa kani names. palawa kani is the language of the Tasmanian Aborigines. We believe this will signify the growth and acceptance of palawa kani in Tasmania, affirm the role language plays in sustaining culture, and celebrate one of the world's oldest cultures.

The passing of Tempest, our Anglo-Nubian goat

The cycle of life is a mystery and brings us both joy and sorrow. We have been so blessed to have a family of magnificent animals who respond so well to our students and families and often to crowds of members of the public. The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ community will be very sad to hear that our beautiful Anglo-Nubian goat, Tempest, died suddenly this summer. She and our other animals were enjoying the grazing period of school vacation when she was bitten by a Tiger snake on the Glenlusk property of our Director of Science K-10 Ms Jane Myers.

Getting ready for VET Hospitality at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ

​ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ is offering an exciting new elective course for Year 10 students who are interested in entering the Hospitality industry. SIT10216 Certificate I in Hospitality will offer ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ students real life exposure to the Hospitality industry by providing foundational technical kitchen skills, including learning to prepare dishes and how to properly maintain a kitchen.

Academic awards celebrated at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ

Each year over one million students from more than 6300 schools in Australia and New Zealand participate in the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) conducted by the University of New South Wales. ICAS are online based assessments designed to recognise and reward academic excellence. The assessments are based on the curricula for the relevant year. Students are required to demonstrate a deep, integrated, and thorough level of learning.

K-6 facilities developments

The improvement and expansion of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ’s K-6 has been identified as a strategic priority. The K-6 buildings are now 14 years old and in need of expansion and refurbishment. The classrooms were originally built to accommodate a 1.5 stream primary which resulted in the need to build four classrooms near the oval (Years 5 and 6).
