Year 5 Taster Day, with Year 9/10 students

On Tuesday 20 September, Year 9 students exercised leadership in their participation in the College Year 5 Taster Day. Four schools were invited to participate in activities to showcase Dominic’s broad range of subjects. These schools were St Paul’s, St Therese’s, St Brigid’s, and our ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ Year 5 classes. Students were given a taste of some of our subjects, including Athletic Development, Design in Wood, EMPOWER, Drama, and Science.

Grandparents Day 2016

What a wonderful day we had for our Grandparents Day on Wednesday 14 Spetember! Our students were delighted and overwhelmed by having their Grandparents join them in the classrooms. In particular it was delightful to see Lucy in Year 1A; she was speechless when her Grandparents arrived from Launceston when she wasn’t expecting them to be able to attend.

Franklin v Denison Football and Netball

On Wednesday ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ hosted the annual 5/6 Catholic Denison v Franklin Football and Netball representative matches at the College. The weather started well for the football game and the football teams were in amazing spirits as they competed in a highly-skilled match with the best players in Hobart. No Strings Attached

'No Strings Attached' is our Year 8 ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ contemporary rock and pop band. Newly formed in Term 3, 2016, the group consists of students who are new to performing and show a great interest and passion for music. Led by Guitar Tutor, Mark Schmalfuss, 'No Strings Attached' performs a student-led repertoire list of contemporary material that is re-arranged by the students themselves, pushing their instrumental abilities and growing their musicality.

Students enjoy new Rua Hub

It has taken a while but this week we opened up the Rua Hub, a social and recreational space for students to chill out, be with friends, have their lunch, or enjoy a game of table tennis. ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ’s biennial Creative Arts festival is two weeks away, and when it came time to choose a student’s art to feature in the publicity for the Festival, the Creative Arts teachers agreed: the artwork of Year 10 student, Kate Lovell, was the first choice! TCEC Awards to Dominic personalities

During Catholic Education Week, the Tasmanian Catholic Education Commission (TCEC) recognises people who have given significant and dedicated service to Catholic Education in Tasmania. We would like to congratulate the Chair of our College Council and former Dominic Principal, Fr Bernie Graham SDB who last night received the highest and most prestigious TCEC award for Exemplary Contribution to Catholic Education. We are also delighted that our College Librarian Mrs Christine Donnelly received the highly valued TCEC award for Outstanding Service as an Employee within Catholic Education.
