College assemblies are always a highlight in our week.
Whether they are for Kindergarten to Year 6, Year 7-10 or our wonderful Kindergarten-Year 10 whole school assemblies, they are always full of inspiring student achievement and wonderful appreciation by students for each other’s efforts.
This week’s assembly was for Year 7-10 students and was an opportunity for us to review Term 2 and celebrate the good work of students.
We enjoyed a recap of our Dominic’s Got Talent concert and were reminded to book tickets to our Music and Dance Showcase, on 12 September, at GYC’s Don Bosco Creative Arts Centre.
Our Year 9/10 Dance students will be reprising their very successful performance from the Hobart Dance Eisteddfod in July as well as a new hip hop routine and our Year 8 Dance students will present a new lyrical piece.
All members of these performance groups received their medals (Year 9/10 First Place) and ribbons (Year 8 Highly Commended) from myself and Mr O’Brien at the 7-10 assembly.
The assembly was also treated to an entertaining selection of videos from our Media classes, including their work on 30-second commercials and 5-second stories. Very short films, indeed!
Classes are working towards the submission of entries to the MyState Student Film Festival.
Chess at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ was celebrated in the assembly, with the huge winter chess House Competition winner and place getters awarded. The prized Chess Shield was awarded to Bosco.
Nineteen students were commended at the 7-10 Assembly this week on receiving Diamond Awards for their Mid-Year Expectations Reports.
These students received the full five out of five, from all of their teachers for each aspect of their: Attitude and Respect towards the Learning Environment, Organisation in the Learning Environment, Engagement with the Learning Environment and Independent Learning Skills in every subject.
Congratulations to our Term 2 Diamond Awardees. Year 10 students comprised Annalise Ball, Megan Brennan, Mikayla Carnes, Melanie Casboult, Kalia Combs, Felicia Di Carlo, Shiona Kondo, Noah McGovern and Julia Narracott.
Year 9 students included Sarah Hawkins, Chelsea Jones, Ella Mollineaux, Brianna Oates, Katelyn Sayer and Campbell Wood.
Our three Year 8 students are Jarrod Good, Ella Fitzpatrick and Sarah Fitzpatrick and our Year 7 awardee is Cassandra McLoughlin.
These students share four qualities: they always want to improve; they listen carefully to feedback and use it to improve, they are incredibly focused and immerse themselves in every learning task.
Well done to all students. You can see more photos on our gallery: Year 7-10 assembly.
