Year 6 Reader's Cup challenge

Year 6 takes the Readers’ Cup Challenge

Each year southern Tasmanian schools join together to battle for the coveted Readers’ Cup. This year ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ Year 6 students have decided to take the challenge to a new level.

EVERY student in Year 6 is working as a member of a small team made up of five to six people.

Their goal is not just to read as many of the six designated books as possible but to thoroughly digest those books and be ready to dazzle us with their understanding.

The challenge is made up of two parts. The first part is the ‘Memory Test’. During this step students will be quizzed about ideas, questions and themes from all six books.

The second part involves getting the creative juices flowing for the presentation of the ‘Creative Challenge’.

This step can be interpreted in a number of ways. Teams can write and sing a song, create a video, a Power Point, a diorama or even a short play. We can’t wait to see what our Year 6 students come up with.

The winner of the Dominic Challenge will represent us all at the Southern Schools Final on 19 June. Here is what a few 6B students had to say about one of the books in the challenge Boy by Phil Cummings and Shane Devries:

• I have enjoyed reading Boy because he is an adventurist. Mikayla
