Last week, Year 4 students visited the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary to complement their studies in History, Geography and Science.
Wildlife experts presented some fascinating information about the characteristics of Tasmanian native animals, including their habitat, behaviour and breeding cycles. The students and our generous adult helpers loved meeting cuddly wombats, growling Tasmanian devils and some very hungry forester kangaroos!
The first hand experience will assist students when they write narratives in the style of Aboriginal Dreaming stories such as, How the Blue Tongue Lizard’s Tongue Became Blue. The opportunity to meet some of Tasmania’s animals face to face should inspire some great writing and deepen understanding about our local environment and history.
