Upcoming exams for Year 10

The End of Year exams for Year 9 and 10 students are getting close and students are starting to get into exam mode.

Exams can seem daunting initially however our aim is to alleviate some of this stress by ensuring students are prepared and focused, which is why we’ve introduced end of year exams for our Year 9 students.

It is very important that students start preparing immediately by creating a study timetable. Students should be asking their teachers for assistance if they have any questions (e.g. topics covered, format of the exam, what to prepare and how long to spend on each question).

Students should not solely rely on reading their notes. They should:

  • Prepare lists
  • Draw charts/diagrams
  • Use graphic organisers
  • Review old tests or quizzes
  • Use colour to highlight key points
  • Summarise their work into a short list of points
  • Prepare flash cards

Attendance and commitment to study is a high priority at Dominic and parents are reminded that if there are any issues such as illness or unforeseen circumstances during the exam period, they should notify the College immediately.

It is important that students do not leave the College for appointments after the exam as they are required to continue attending normal classes. Parents and guardians should contact Mrs Ganga Fraser, Coordinator of Teaching and Learning 7-10, if they have any questions. (gfraser@dominic.tas.edu.au)
