Tasmanian Young Artist Award nominations

There is a wealth of talented young artists within our school and five of our Year 10 students have been selected as finalists in the inaugural Tasmanian Young Artist Awards 2017.

This award is a new initiative of the annual Tasmanian Craft Fair and provides an opportunity and a platform to highlight the artwork of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ’s young creatives. These awards are a means to provide encouragement and exposure for Tasmania’s young artists and to showcase their work to an audience in their thousands.

Participating students from Year 10 refined and selected a piece of artwork that addressed the required theme of ‘Contrasts’. The work could be in any 2D medium of their choosing, including painting, drawing, printmaking and mixed media. The students were also required to write an artist statement and a short personal summary to address the terms and conditions of entry. A panel of judges assessed the students and ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ has five finalists out of the state-wide shortlisted works.

Our finalists are Ellie Newland with ‘The Fertile Mind’; Rhianna Dean with ‘Freedom’; Felicia Di Carlo with ‘The Yellow Ribbon’; Aimee Hogan with ‘Darkness Speaks’ and Flynne Bessell with ‘Inevitable Death.’

The exhibition is in the Deloraine Creative Studios at 59 Emu Bay Road, Deloraine and will be held during the month of November. It will be opened on 2 November at 6.00pm and will be a key feature of the 2017 Tasmanian Craft Fair.

Congratulations to our finalists and best of luck for success in the exhibition.
