We had a fantastic finish to Term 2 with our PJ Day and have been working hard over the last few weeks to prepare for a very productive Term 3.
Thank you to all families, teachers and students who supported our PJ Day on the last day of Term 2 - all students and staff looked warm and comfy and the hot chocolates sold by Mini Vinnies were a winner. Thank you to P&F volunteers Danni Quinn and Sharyn Majchrzak for helping out on the day. Overall the P&F raised $544.20 which is a fabulous result.
At our last meeting we were pleased to receive two funding proposals.
The first proposal was from Mr Cameron Golding for the purchase of eight semi-commercial Food Processors along with an Industry-grade Coffee Machine to benefit all Home Economics, Food Studies and MMK students.
The second proposal was submitted by Mrs Allison Lowe requesting assistance to fund The Resilience Co Workshop for K-6 parents as part of Mental Health Week this month.
We are happy to report that both proposals were successful for these wonderful initiatives.
Our annual Fathers Day Stall will be held on Wednesday 28 August in the Little Theatre. We have an amazing range of excellent quality gifts ready for purchase and at $5 they are great value for money. This years range includes coffee and travel mugs, assorted frames, tool kits, desktop games, massagers, caps and beanies, pin art and much more.
A flyer will be sent out early next week with more details about the day.
Fair Update
At the beginning of July, the Fair Committee sent out sponsorship request letters to over 400 businesses around the state asking for their support of our Community Fair. We have had an amazing response to these letters and so far we have had over 50 local businesses offer their support in ways of hampers, gift vouchers and a wide variety of goods. If you or your business would like to donate to the Community Fair please email parentsandfriends@dominic.tas.edu.au
We have booked in the ever popular Gee Whizzer, Jumping Castle, Animal Husbandry, Wellington Fire Truck, Fishcare as well as the Glenorchy Junior Footy Club, Tas Reptillia., Taiko Drums and a fabulous Police Constable and her squad car.
We have many more stalls and entertainment in the pipeline so follow us on the Dominic Fair Facebook Page for more updates and details.
We are also looking for volunteers to help run a few of these stalls on the day, so if you think you maybe able to help out for just an hour or more on Friday 8 November, then please let us know via the Fair Facebook Page or by email on parentsandfriends@dominic.tas.edu.au
Our next P&F meeting will be held on Wednesday 21 August and everyone is welcome to attend. We will be having a presentation from Mr Mike O’Brien about his teaching exchange in Japan and we will welcome Mr Akihiro Shimomura from Shizuoka Salesio School and hear about his experiences.
