Our students enjoyed an excellent OzBosco weekend in Melbourne for the last weekend of term break, accompanied by Mr Swan, Ms McConnnon and Br Michael.
The Don Bosco Now magazine reports:
A large group of young people from Adelaide, Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney gathered together for OzBosco 2017 at St. Joseph’s College in Ferntree Gully on 28-30 April. The group from Hobart top the list this time with the total of 45 young people participating in the event.
The enthusiastic crowd arrived at St. Joseph’s College on Friday night for registration, a dinner and an opening ceremony. The short evening was concluded at 10:00 PM by a Night Prayer led by the students and staff of Salesian College Sunbury.
On Saturday morning, a keynote speech was presented by Lauren Hichaaba, the director of the Cagliero Project from the Salesian Province Centre. After lunch, all participants were given a variety of workshops to choose. A highlight of the gathering was the Bush Dance on Saturday evening where all young and old participants enjoyed immensely.
Sunday morning was dedicated to a discussion panel led by a young Salesian Brother, Tristan O’Brien. Group discussions and feedback followed the panel.
Concluding Mass was held in the college Chapel in the afternoon led by the Provincial, Fr Greg Chambers SDB, and con-celebrated by nine other Salesian priests. Sr Edna Mary MacDonald and Sr Rochelle sent their apologies this time as they were attending a Youth Ministry meeting in Japan.
Following the Eucharist, the Delegate for Youth Ministry and the Vice Provincial, Fr Bernie Graham, thanked the host school, the preparation committee, and all who attended OzBosco 2017.
Looking tired and excited, all participants went home after thank-you and farewell speeches pre-empting the next OzBosco gathering in 2018.
Thank you St Joseph's, Ferntree Gully. Our students will report more in our ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ newsletter this week.
