Magic moments in 2016 for Creative Arts

For the last issue of the newsletter for 2016, magic moments chosen by the Creative Arts staff.

Music Count Us In was an exciting day of celebration, which saw all K-6 students participating in the national simultaneous singing event. K-1 students filled the playground with their beautiful voices, while Year 2-6 students attended the special event on Bellerive Boardwalk, where they were entertained by various ensembles, including our very own DUCK Club, 3/4 and 5/6 choirs and the Senior Concert Band. A wonderful day of magic moments! Miss White and Miss Hewitt

A standout moment for me came for Year 5 when, after weeks of studious drawing and colour practice, they got their hands on some modelling clay and let their imaginations run wild! Their only instruction was to create an ‘alien’ and some of their fantastic creations would fit right into a wonderful Sci-Fi Movie! Ms Durbridge

This is my magic moment when I managed to cajole all of my senior art class together on our last class together into a group photo! They have worked so hard this year and rose to the many challenges put before them. To see them all smiling and to tell me after that shot was taken, that they didn’t mind all the hard work (!) was gratifying. Mrs Jeffrey

Set on the banks of the River Derwent Year 6 Cunningham’s play “The River” featured two large killer whale puppets expertly manipulated by 6 student puppeteers This play along with Year 6 Moulton’s “The Mountain” featured as part of the 2017 ‘Say it Loud’ performances presented in Term 2. Miss Brownrigg

ƵƬ competed in the school dance section at the Southern Tasmanian Dance Eisteddfod for the first time. What a fantastic magic moment for our students! Mrs Evans

Amongst a year of constant activity in the performing arts, the inaugural Junior Talking Heads, in Term 1, had Year 7 and 8 students performing monologues for our friends at Glenview Village who were invited to a matinee performance. This is one of many magic moments this year. Mr Mike O’Brien - K-10 Director of Creative Arts
