We commenced our journey last Saturday landing in Osaka and heading straight to Kyoto.
We had the opportunity to explore a number of temples and castles throughout Kyoto, Osaka and Nara before making our way to Hiroshima.
Over the course of the four days we got to taste many local cuisines including okonomiyaki and tonkatsu, to name just two!
On Wednesday we visited Hiroshima’s Peace Park and delivered almost 1000 paper cranes on behalf of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ. In the evening we experienced a beautiful traditional lantern ceremony.
We also travelled to the beautiful Miyajima, and were able to visit Itsukushima Shrine, venture up Mt Misen and have a sing-a-long at Karaoke!
Today we are are very excited as we will be making our way to Shizuoka Salesio School where our young travellers will get an opportunity to experience life in a Japanese Salesian school and also take part in the inaugural Home Stay Experience.
Everyone is very excited! Those not involved with a Home Stay have been charged with the task of developing an itinerary of activities for the group to test their geographical skills and cultural understanding of the region.
The time has flown very fast, but the experiences have been fantastic with new friendships forming and cultural understanding deepening.
Keep us in your prayers as we finalise our trip next Wednesday and please continue to follow our blog at
