Two more distinguished old scholars have been inducted into ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ's Hall of Achievement, during the College's end of year awards ceremony, the Years 6-10 Awards.
Prof Brett Williams (1987) and Dr Melanie Wuttke (1995) joined students, family, staff and guests for the awards ceremony and spoke to students about their life, their passions and their time at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ.
Brett began working for Ambulance Tasmania as a young man after his football career was cut short. His hard work and drive led to his further training and his graduation into tertiary education where he has successfully professionalized the discipline of paramedicine. Brett is renowned nationally and internationally for his paramedical research and practice.
Mel was an outstanding student at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ in the 1990s, who completed a science degree before going on to medicine. An oncologist at Royal Hobart Hospital, Mel has a deep care for all people, has worked in regional and remote areas, and is committed to working in and improving public health.
The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ Hall of Achievement was established in 2003, with induction ceremonies held in 2003, 2005, 2009, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The Hall of Achievement ceremony is now aligned with the College's Year 6-10 Annual Awards Ceremony which takes place in November each year.
The Hall of Achievement aims to celebrate the history of the school and the lives of the people who have been shaped by their education at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ, and its precursors Boys' Town, Savio College and Holy Name Convent.
The purpose of the Hall of Achievement is to recognise and acknowledge significant achievements by Old Scholars – achievements that have upheld the spirit and values of our founder, Don Bosco, including hard work, honesty, respect and good citizenship. The College takes the opportunity to publicly recognise and give thanks for the blessings of the lives of these honoured scholars who are part of a great Salesian and Dominican story and a rich part of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ.
