Transition to GYC begins at entry into Dominic. We start talking about it from Kindergarten. It is emphasised for enrolments and during parent information sessions that GYC is our recommended pathway into Years 11 and 12. ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ is K-10, on one site, and Year 11 and 12 is just down the road. Students will have a seamless transition into their future study.
On Wednesday, our current Year 10 students eagerly attended the GYC Pathways Expo at the Glenorchy Campus.
The purpose of the visit was to enable our students to continue formulating their plans for study in Years 11 and 12.
It was a great opportunity for our students to mingle and interact with academic staff, to discuss subject choices and get to know their way around their new campus.
Discussions included both academic and VET courses. Careers advisors were on hand to answer all queries.
As well as spending time at the expo, students were also taken on an extensive tour of the Campus, in small groups, by teaching staff.
The tours ended with a visit to the catering suite where hot, freshly-made pizza awaited them.
Inside the Don Bosco Creative Arts Centre an informative presentation on course requirements and pathway options for tertiary study was given.
Our students found the morning to be a stimulating, engaging and exciting experience.
I have started receiving questions from students requiring more advice. We will continue to work closely with GYC to ensure our students have a seamless transition as we facilitate their journey into exploring all possibilities available to them.
