Farewell to our Year 10 Graduating Students of 2022

We say thank you and good luck to our Year 10 students as they end their journey with us here at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ. For some, this journey commenced back in Kindergarten in 2011 and it is with genuine affection that we now send each of these young people on to the next phase of their educational pathway.

Despite the disruptions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and all the challenges this has presented, the Class of 2022 has proven time and again to be dedicated people, who have contributed enormously to the quality of life at the College. This is particularly true of our College Captains and Vice Captains Belle, Harry, Chloe, and John, and all our Year 10 House Captains and Leaders and I express my deepest gratitude to them all.

To each one of the graduates of the Class of 2022, I thank you for your work and your support for the community over the years. It has been very much appreciated. We are immensely proud of all that you have achieved and hope that life continues to be filled with many opportunities and experiences that bring you joy, happiness and fulfilment.

As a school in the Salesian tradition, we are called to make ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ a community where everyone feels like they belong and we use the guidance of the Charter for Salesian Schools of Australia to help us be a HOME that welcomes, a PARISH that evangelises, a SCHOOL that prepares for life and a PLAYGROUND where friends meet and enjoy themselves. To achieve this aim, everyone in the community must take ownership of this charter and our Year 10s have wholeheartedly lived by the pillars of the charter during their time with us. During 2022, Year 10 have contributed to ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ being a HOME that welcomes through the wonderful relationships and bonds that they formed with each other, their younger peers and teachers based on genuine care and affection. They have helped the College be a PARISH that evangelises through their involvement in service activities, Mass celebrations, Feast Days, Retreat Programs and sacramental encounters, leaving us to be citizens equipped to fight for justice, demonstrate love and compassion to all and aim to serve the most vulnerable in our community and world just as Jesus Christ modelled to us all. Our Year 10s have exhibited that Dominic is a SCHOOL that prepares for life by actively taking part in learning each day and involving themselves in a wide range of co-curricular activities to help prepare them for the adventures that life presents them with.

During their time at Dominic, they have embraced a range of learning opportunities to gain knowledge and future skills that will prepare them for the road ahead for lifelong learning. Finally, our Class of 2022 have been part of a PLAYGROUND where friends meet and enjoy themselves shown through various celebrations and festivities this year by demonstrating House Spirit, friendship and hospitality to all who they have encountered.

At our Year 10 Final Assembly, we conducted our Year 10 Belling Out Ceremony, a tradition to farewell our Year 10s as they transition to their next pathway to conclude their senior secondary education in Year 11 and 12. Our historic bells were rung to signal the conclusion of their journey at Dominic College and students walked through a guard of honour toward Tolosa St to commence their new pathway. That night, we celebrated their journey at the Graduation Mass where they officially became ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ Old Scholars.

To the Year 10 Class of 2022, as your educational journey ends with us today, we pray that you will always be deeply blessed throughout your lives. I wish you every happiness and success. You leave our community with our deepest gratitude for who you are, what you’ve become and what you have given each of us during your time at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ. May God bless you and guide you in your lives and may each of you remember that you will always be part of the Dominic family. Thank you, goodbye and good luck and remember to always ‘live by the truth’!
