Even more new building development begins very soon as College facilities progressive upgrading accelerates.
In 2014, ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ was awarded a Federal Government Grant by the Capital Projects Committee to help fund the redevelopment of the Year 7-10 Siena and Bosco toilets, the four Bosco classrooms located in the Boys Town Building and the installation of a new covered walkway to link the Bosco corridor to the Guzman corridor. Stage 1, being the Siena and Bosco toilets, was completed during 2014/15 in time for the start of Term 1. Stage 2 will be completed over a similar time frame, with works starting during the imminent Term 3 holidays and an anticipated completion date of 31 January 2016.
Due to the amount of refurbishment and building work required to complete the project it is not possible to stage the entire works during the upcoming summer holidays. Therefore there will be some disruption to students and staff especially in relation to the use of the Bosco classrooms and corridor, and adjoining toilet facilities during Term 4. We hope the relocation of Bosco classes to other free classrooms in the 7-10 and temporary relocation of the Bosco lockers, including power, to the ANZAC Buffet will ensure the disruption is kept to a minimum.
With completion of Stage 2, the new Bosco classrooms will benefit with larger glazed doors, improved windows, upgraded heating and lighting, new furniture and glazed partitions separating classrooms to improve connection between classes and allow the classrooms to be opened up to accommodation house meetings and large group work. The new covered walkway will improve the connection between the Bosco/Siena classrooms and the Savio/Guzman classrooms. It will increase the covered areas students can use during lunch and recess, create a plaza feel to the grassed area outside the Siena classrooms and significantly upgrade the stairs used to access the Bosco classrooms and top basketball court.
I would like to thank everyone in advance for their patience
during the final stage of this exciting project.
