DOSA Football players and supporters couldn't be happier with both reserves and seniors winning their elimination finals on Sunday!
Reserves: DOSA 15 8 98 to St V 10 2 62 inc 7 goals from Tim Golding (2001) for DOSA.
Seniors: DOSA 11 14 80 to Uni 12 5 77
Both preliminary finals are next Saturday at Geilston Bay.
DOSA Football co-president and old scholar, Mr Golding (1999) was excited: "You little ripper! Today was a good day to be a Rooster."
The reserves had a tight tussle all day with St Virgil's and pulled away late to win the tight struggle. Tigga Golding (2001) put on a clinic bagging 7 majors while the youth and run of Jordan Cox, Liam Wakefield (2015) and Mitch Gittus was a pleasure to witness. The back 6 were solid all day repelling many attacks (well done lads) and overall it was a good performance to give ourselves a chance in the prelim next week against Uni at Geilston Bay at 11.45am.
The seniors was an up and down affair against Uni all day with both sides struggling to find flow and link it together early. After half time that all changed and the game opened up with both sides having patches of dominance. Mitch Reeve was at his usual best (Supported well by TP also) and supported by unbelievable games by Aaron Parker, Justin Vietch and Harri Loveless.
Gareth “The Parcel” Delaney was on song again snagging a few and stepping up again and Nick Goss presenting well and jagging a couple of goals. The whole back 6 were great all day with Grubb, Macca, Peaks, Anders and Rogers and their counterparts repelling many attacks. In the last quarter we looked home when we were 15 points up with less than 5 mins to go but Uni kept coming and snagged 2 quick ones to make it only 3 points. Uni had another clearance and looked likely to go inside 50 if it wasn’t for a game saving tackle from Justin “Boogie” Veitch that saved the day. Siren blows and DOSA get their “W” in both grades.
The seniors will face off in the Prelim against OHA @ Geilston Bay at 2pm next Saturday. Next week it is looking like gates will be open up to 1000 patrons after the Premier's recent announcement with normal gate sales on the day (not ticketed) so get along to Geilston Bay to support the Roosters in the Prelim.
