Just doing it!
Rather than winding down towards the end of a typically busy term, our Music and Drama students are proving the adage by using every available second to push themselves in an array of Creative Arts events happening over the final two weeks.
At our K-10 Assembly on Wednesday, the combined Year 5-6 and Senior Choir gave a preview of the repertoire they have been preparing for the up and coming Festival of Voices massed choirs workshop and concert at Federation Hall next week.
The arresting harmonies and vocal control on show in Shackleton by Paul Jarman, drew a well-deserved response from all gathered in the Savio Centre. Miss Hewitt has done a wonderful job in bring out the best in our students.
On Thursday, the Senior Concert Band was fortunate to have special workshop under the baton of visiting conductor Les Johnson. Our students embraced this fantastic opportunity to work with one of the best secondary school concert band directors in Hobart. It was a valuable experience for our young musicians. It was a session of grit, teamwork, great music and pizza.
On Tuesday next week, both Year 6 classes will present SAY IT LOUD, their self-devised plays in The Oratory Space. The performance begins at 6pm. Tickets can be booked here now:
On Friday, two Creative Arts events will be happening at the same time. At 1.30pm at the Derwent Entertainment Centre, Year 8 Dance will be competing in the Southern Tasmanian Dance Eisteddfod.
Our troupe of 26 dancers will be Performing ‘Grease Lightning’, a highly energetic and entertaining piece choreographed by our Dance Instructor extraordinaire, Mrs Jenina Evans. Tickets are available at the DEC Box Office.
At the same time at Dominic, the annual Scriptless Cup will be happening in two venues, The Little Theatre and The Oratory Space.
Our House Theatresports teams will receive training from current Australian Theatresports champions, Kate Coates and Pat Magee.
