Book Week is one of the most exciting events on the calendar for K-6 students at Dominic!
The annual parade allows students to come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book, an Australian author or dress to the Book Week theme, this year being ‘Escape to Everywhere.’
Book Week is a celebration of Australian Children’s Literature and ƵƬ celebrates this in an amazing way! This year’s theme sparked imagination throughout classrooms as the theme captures why children and adults love to read. It allows their imaginations to take them anywhere!
Reading makes children more compassionate and empathetic as they can escape and live in someone else’s mind seeing and feeling what they do.
Our wonderful Year 6 teacher, Ms Moulton, is a passionate reader and advocate of Children’s Book Week. She inspired K-6 staff with Book Week activities and conducted a wonderful parade for all students (and staff!).
The rain couldn’t dampen the children’s spirit as the parade was moved indoors to the Savio Centre. It was fantastic to see such high levels of participation with students and staff dressing in costume. The costumes were amazing and students enjoyed the opportunity to show case there to their peers!
Year 2 concluded the parade with a beautiful performance of “Under the Rainbow” reminding us that the dreams we dream really can come true. Thank you to all families for assisting your children in looking so fantastic!
