Blades of glory

Year 10 students, Promise Mudzingwa and Oliver Wareing, began learning their stage swordmanship with old scholar and well-known actor, Mr Andrew Casey, last week.

Mr Casey said that the swords he has allowed the players to borrow have featured in many bloody fights in a variety of theaters and plays.

'Sword fights are an exciting and traditional way to entertain an audience. Promise and Oliver are picking up the techniques quickly and will impress with their skill and fury!'

Promise plays Beatrice and Oliver plays Leonato, in the upcoming "Much Ado About Nothing" which will be performed during the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ Creative Arts Festival.

William Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" is one of his most popular comedies and while tickets are free, they must be pre-ordered at

There are only two public performances, at 7.30pm in the Peacock Theatre, Salamanca Arts Centre, on Thursday 30 and Friday 31 August.
