On Wednesday afternoon, we held our first formal Prep – Year 6 Assembly. It’s a little early for the Kinders to join us for assembly, but we look forward to them joining us later in the term.
Our assemblies are a wonderful opportunity to gather together, celebrate student achievements and share news and work from classrooms. Our Captains and Vice Captains are responsible for hosting the assemblies and they did a wonderful job with this being their first formal occasion.
Each term, there is a different focus on classroom awards. These awards link in with the term’s focus in our Empower Program and School Expectations.
This term we focus on Bucket Fillers and Being a Learner. Students were awarded these certificates in assembly to generous applause from their fellow classmates. We are very proud of them!
Families are warmly invited to attend assemblies. Class teachers will let you know if your child’s class is involved in a presentation, or if they are receiving an award. Our next Prep – Year 6 assembly will be held on Wednesday 7 March in the Savio Centre at 1.45pm.

Ms Gilligan and Mr Casni also noted the assembly in their columns for the newsletter. Ms Gilligan said that there were lots of great messages and commendations.
'I would like to commend our Year 6 Captains, Harry Johnston and Zoe Swan and our Vice Captains, Oscar McGann and Alarna Waller for their excellent leadership of this assembly. They play a key role in building our school community and supporting students and teachers in their efforts. Their confidence, presentation and team work in this first assembly were impressive.'
Mr Casni said he was proud to be part of the presentation.
'I would like to congratulate the Year 6 House Captains who were presented with their badges (below) and those who received their whistle as a symbol of being chosen as Fitness Leaders. It was also exciting being able to present ‘Bucket Filler’ and ‘We are Learners’ awards to a large number of students. It is wonderful to see so many of our students striving to be the best learners they can be, and aiming high to develop positive relationships each and every day.'
