Music's opening note

Music is now underway and the symphony of offerings will have students humming along.

Private instrumental lessons have started for the year, and 89 students have taken up this valuable opportunity. Excellent work!

Six professional tutors are employed by the College to teach students privately in Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Guitar, Ukulele, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Voice and Drums.

Students from Prep to Year 10 are eligible to take these lessons, and if you would like more information please contact Katherine Hewitt: khewitt@dominic.tas.edu.au

Co-curricular music ensembles are almost all up and running now. Senior Concert Band is on Thursday after school from 3.30pm-4.30pm led by Mr Martin Smith.

If a student plays a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument, they are very welcome to come along and join us.

Years 3/4 and 5/6 Choirs have started this week on Tuesday and Friday lunchtimes. There are no auditions and students in those years are very welcome to come along.

Senior choir have had several rehearsals now and even had their first performance last Friday at the Hall of Achievement assembly.

Year 6 Band will start next week on Thursday at lunchtime.

The DUCK Club, (Dominic Ukulele Cool Kids), got off to a great start this week with about 40 students from Year 3-6 signing up. Students enjoy the unique ukele usage.

DUCK club is divided into two groups: Red DUCKS for beginners, led by Mr Smith and Blue DUCKS for the more experienced students under the direction of Mrs Kilpatrick. DUCK Club meets every Wednesday at lunchtime.

We’re up and running, and playing, in music!
